This article reviews cultural and methodological considerations when developing effective preventive interventions among Latino families. A prevention approach guides the discussion of five key issues in prevention science, including (a) the role of risk and protective factors, (b) fidelity and adaptation strategies, (c) program effectiveness, (d) methodological consideration, and (e) bridging prevention research and practice. An annotated bibliography complements our discussion of conceptual and methodological considerations and prevention and intervention practices when working with Latinos.

It is absolutely critical that high school games be organized in the safest way possible--both for the students, the staff who are directly involved and for all the spectators who watch these games. School officials have become vigilant with safety measures as a string of violent incidents has occurred in several school athletic events across the nation over the past year. In this article, the author discusses several strategies to combat violence at school sports events.

Young injecting drug users are a particularly vulnerable group for Hepatitis C (HCV) infection. One method for minimising the risk of contraction of Hepatitis C for amphetamine users (not widely explored in the research to date) is through encouraging non-injecting routes of administration (NIROA). Self-report data from 150 young injecting amphetamine users was analysed to investigate the influence of Hepatitis C threat on the decision to cease injecting and the worth of promoting the use of NIROA. Application of the Transtheoretical Model of Behaviour Change and the Expanded Health Belief Model showed that threat of Hepatitis C was not perceived as reason to cease injecting at any stage in the injecting career. Cessation was a result of personal choice, rather than response to any type of threat. This supports the promotion of harm reduction rather than abstinence campaigns. Furthermore, the deficits in knowledge of Hepatitis C threat are worthy of campaign attention.

Sexually transmitted infections, including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), disproportionately affect African American adolescents and young adults. Many of our current strategies and approaches have been inadequate in the promotion of risk reduction among youth and need to be reconceptualized. This article identifies issues that may guide researchers to better address the risks faced by African American youth. Some of these issues include tailoring of intervention messages and programs, timing of intervention delivery, consideration of contextual factors that influence risk behaviors, and increasing the breadth of our intervention focus. Discussions of how these strategies and approaches may enhance intervention effectiveness are highlighted.

At a seminar, two Congressional staff members offered good tips on how it is best to communicate with legislators. Although offered in the context of communicating with Congress, these insights are also valuable when working with state and local legislators. This article discusses the key points that were provided in the seminar. In addition to these general communication strategies, it has also become more important than ever to use effective email strategies with members of Congress and their staffers because of the anthrax letter scares of a few years ago. Email is becoming an increasingly common and acceptable way to communicate in the business world, and offices on Capitol Hill are no exception. Many Capitol Hill staffers today have Blackberries, the latest device in communication technology, which allow them to receive and send emails wherever they are. Despite this technology, many people still wonder how effective email communication is when they are trying to get their message to their congressperson and/or senators. The answer to this really depends on the particular legislator and his or her staffers. If one has a well-established working relationship with a legislative aide in the office, email can be an extremely easy and effective way to follow up on meetings and phone conversations, or to make specific requests. Some guidelines to follow should one choose to communicate this way are also presented.

The number of people living with dementia is expected to rise to 153 million cases globally by 2050. This will come at a high economic and human cost to societies with disproportionate effects on socioeconomically disadvantaged groups who experience greater exposures to- and fewer protections from- the environmental, social and behavioural drivers of dementia risk. Almost half (45%) of dementia incidence could theoretically be prevented or delayed by addressing 14 modifiable risk factors. While several studies have demonstrated the feasibility of multidomain dementia risk reduction interventions in relatively older, educated and wealthy populations, we are not aware of any studies to date explicitly targeting younger adults (< 50 years) with lower socioeconomic status. To inform future strategies, we conducted a scoping review of intervention studies targeting multiple 'dementia-related' risk factors among adults with lower socioeconomic status in developed country contexts. We identified 1003 unique records; 34 met our criteria for inclusion – involving more than 17,500 participants from 13 countries. While none of the studies explicitly targeted dementia risk reduction, they reported on 30 relevant multidomain interventions targeting common risk factors associated with dementia including; diet (28), physical inactivity (27), obesity (22), diabetes (9), hypertension (8), smoking (6), alcohol use (6), depression (3) and social isolation (1). While most studies recorded positive effects on one or more health behaviours, there was a diversity in the design, approach and outcomes of interventions, with significant intervention effects being associated with the use of a wider range of behaviour change techniques. We suggest that designing interventions to reduce dementia risk and disparities requires a high degree of contextual specificity and propose a structured and participatory approach. Concerns regarding disinfection byproducts (DBPs) in drinking water persist, with measurements in water treatment plants (WTPs) being relatively easier than those in water distribution systems (WDSs) due to accessibility challenges, especially during adverse weather conditions. Machine learning (ML) models offer improved predictions of DBPs in WDSs. This study developed multiple ML models to predict Trihalomethanes (THMs), Haloacetic Acids (HAAs), Dichloroacetonitrile (DCAN), and N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) in WDSs using data collected over 13 years (2008–2020) from 113 water supply systems (WSS) in Ontario. Data were collected tri-monthly (four times/year) following Ontario's regulatory requirements. Four common ML models—linear regressor (LR), random forest regressor (RFR), support vector regressor (SVR), and artificial neural networks with multiple folds cross-validation (ANN-MV) and single fold validation (ANN-SV)—were trained and tested using different datasets. R2 values for training datasets of THMs, HAAs, DCAN, and NDMA models ranged from 0.533 to 0.976, 0.560 to 0.980, 0.602 to 0.993, and 0.449 to 0.858, respectively. For testing datasets, R2 ranged from 0.517 to 0.939, 0.437 to 0.945, 0.565 to 0.973, and 0.517 to 0.718, respectively. Among THMs, HAAs, and DCAN, ANN-SV models were identified as the best, followed by the RFR model, whereas for NDMA, SVR was the superior model, followed by the LR model. Some models reliably predicted DBPs, suggesting they could replace costly sampling and experimental analysis for DBPs in the WDSs, thereby enhancing DBPs control in WDSs and reducing human exposure and associated risks. Contamination of beef by certain strains of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) called enterohemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) can lead to outbreaks of severe disease. Therefore, accurate monitoring tests are needed to identify high risk beef products and divert them from consumers. Most EHEC testing focuses on the detection of their key virulence factors Shiga toxin (stx) and intimin (eae). However, these two factors can occur separately in lower risk nonpathogenic E. coli (STEC and enteropathogenic E. coli; EPEC) and confound testing if both are present. Accessory virulence factors like the Type III secreted effectors espK and espV may aid in increasing the specificity of EHEC testing. This work first evaluated collections of EHEC (n = 83), STEC (n = 100) and EPEC (n = 95), finding espK and/or espV in 100%, 0%, and 60% of each, respectively. Next, an inoculation study of beef trim samples (n = 118) examined the ability of including espK and espV in the monitoring test scheme to distinguish samples inoculated with EHEC from those inoculated with mixtures of STEC and EPEC (non-EHEC). Test accuracy was calculated as Area Under the Receiver Operating Characteristic curve (AUC) and found to be significantly (p < 0.05) different, increasing from 68.0% (stx/eae) to 76.8% by including espK and espV. Finally, 361 regulatory agency beef samples that had been identified as suspect for EHEC (stx+/eae+) were examined with the addition of espK and espV, and results compared to culture isolation. Culture isolation identified 42 EHEC, 82 STEC, and 67 EPEC isolates in 146 of the samples. In the case of these naturally contaminated samples, inclusion of espK and espV increased test accuracy compared to culture isolation from an AUC of 50.5% (random agreement) to 69.8% (good agreement). Results show that the inclusion of espK and espV can increase the specificity of identifying high risk EHEC contaminated beef and release beef contaminated with nonpathogenic or low risk E. coli. Further, use of espK and espV identified samples contaminated by common EHEC of serogroups O157, O26, and O103, as well as of less common serogroups O182, O177, and O5. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Bilateral risk-reducing mastectomy (BRRM) is the surgical removal of both breasts to reduce the risk of cancer. In this Society of Surgical Oncology position statement, we review the literature addressing the indications, outcomes, and risks of BRRM to update the society's 2017 statement. We held a virtual meeting to outline key topics and conducted a literature search using PubMed to identify relevant articles. After literature review, recommendations were made according to group consensus. Individuals with a high lifetime risk of breast cancer due to pathogenic variants in high penetrance breast cancer–predisposition genes, early chest or breast radiation exposure, or a compelling family history should be counseled on the option of BRRM. However, BRRM is not recommended for most patients with high-risk lesions and may be contraindicated in patients who have other competing cancers and/or a high risk of surgical complications. BRRM effectively reduces the risk of breast cancer development, although the survival benefit is unclear. For patients with low-to-moderate breast cancer risk, alternative management strategies should be encouraged, including lifestyle modifications, high-risk screening, and risk-reducing medications. Discussions of BRRM should cover: (1) breast-cancer risk estimates; (2) the procedure's degree of risk reduction and impact on survival; (3) surgical techniques, potential surgical complications and long-term sequelae; and (4) alternatives to surgery. Participating in physical activities has been demonstrated to be one of the most efficacious natural methods for preventing and combating cancer. Research indicates that consistent physical activity can diminish the likelihood of getting specific cancer types, such as breast, colon, and lung cancer. Physical activity aids in sustaining a healthy body weight, enhancing immunological function, and diminishing inflammation—elements that collectively minimize cancer risk. Furthermore, physical activity can enhance the overall mental well-being and quality of life for individuals diagnosed with cancer and those in remission. Healthcare practitioners recommend that persons engage in a minimum of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise weekly to obtain the cancer-preventive advantages of physical activity. Incorporating regular physical activity into one's lifestyle enables individuals to proactively mitigate their cancer risk and enhance overall well-being. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simple Summary: This study summarizes the current landscape of breast cancer risk reduction strategies in East and Southeast Asia, especially in the context of the rising interest in risk-based screening. Clinical trial results and European guidelines may not always be directly applicable to Asian populations due to differences in healthcare systems, disease prevalence, lifestyle factors, and genetic predispositions. By focusing on regional evidence, we can potentially identify gaps and areas where Asian populations may benefit from new or modified approaches. Asian evidence can inform more relevant and effective local practices. Breast cancer (BC) screening enables early detection and timely treatment of cancer. Improving the effectiveness of BC screening can be accomplished by personalizing screening schedules according to each woman's specific risk level. However, when informing women about their risk classification, especially those at high risk, it is important to give clear recommendations on how to lower their risk. BC risk reduction comprises lifestyle modifications, preventive surgery, and chemoprevention, with the latter two being particularly applicable to high-risk individuals. Public health guidance on risk-reducing interventions is heterogeneous and context-dependent. We conducted a scoping review on BC surgical interventions and chemoprevention in East and Southeast Asia in publications between 2010 and 2024. We searched two databases and identified 23 publications relevant for inclusion. The highest number of publications came from South Korea (n = 9). More publications discussed surgical interventions compared to pharmacological interventions. The studies were largely observational and utilized data from medical records. Most studies defined high-risk individuals as BRCA carriers, many of whom previously had cancer. The field would benefit from randomized studies of BC prevention strategies focusing on Asian populations. Future research could explore women's sentiments towards chemoprevention compared to prophylactic surgery and could extend the definition of high-risk individuals beyond BRCA carriers. Salmonella spp. and hepatitis E virus (HEV) are significant foodborne zoonotic pathogens that impact the health of livestock, farmers, and the general public. This study aimed to identify biosecurity measures (BSMs) against these pathogens on swine farms in Europe, the United States, and Canada. Overall, 1,529 articles from three scientific databases were screened manually and with the artificial intelligence (AI) tool ASReview. We identified 54 BSMs from 32 articles, primarily focused on Salmonella spp. control. Amongst the extracted BSMs, only five measures for Salmonella spp. control, namely, 'acidification of feed', 'acidification of drinking water', 'rodent control', 'all-in and all-out production', and 'disinfection' had sufficient observations to conduct a meta-analysis. Of these five, acidification and rodent control were found to be protective measures, that is, their summary odds ratios in the corresponding meta-analyses were lower than 1, indicating lower odds of Salmonella spp. presence on farms which implemented these BSM compared to farms which did not implement them (odds ratio [OR] around 0.25). All-in and all-out production showed a non-significant protective effect (OR = 0.71), while disinfection showed a statistically non-significant lack of association between disinfection and the presence of Salmonella spp. on the farm (OR = 1.03). For HEV, no meta-analysis could be performed. According to multiple articles, two BSMs were significantly associated with a lower risk of HEV presence, namely, disinfecting vehicles (OR = 0.30) and quarantining pigs before introducing them on the farm (OR = 0.48). A risk of bias assessment for each included article revealed a high risk in the majority of the articles, mainly due to selection and performance bias. This emphasises the lack of standardised, high-quality study designs and robust empirical evidence linking BSM implementation to pathogen reduction. The limited data available for meta-analysis, coupled with the high risk of bias (RoB) in the literature, highlights the urgent need for more substantial evidence on the effectiveness of BSMs in mitigating the transmission and spread of zoonotic pathogens, such as Salmonella spp. and HEV on pig farms. Women are the largest growing population of Veterans within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Care System. Among women Veterans, breast cancer is the most common malignancy (30% of all cancers), yet little is known about the unique needs of women Veterans with cancer and how to provide them with high quality care. The VA health care system has initiated multiple system-wide systemic efforts, including launching the Breast and Gynecologic Cancer System of Excellence (BGSOE) to address this knowledge gap. This report summarizes the outcomes of the inaugural 2023 VA Women's Cancer Research Conference, which assembled 37 multidisciplinary clinicians, scientists, the VA and civilian partners with a shared goal of advancing VA breast cancer research. Conference objectives were to build a collective vision for improving: (1) referral patterns for breast cancer treatment and patient-level outcomes and (2) molecular and genetic testing patterns across the breast cancer continuum among women Veterans. The meeting hosted 15 speakers at the Houston VA Medical Center. Future research priorities for women Veterans with cancer were identified from discussions and a post-conference survey. We then administered a 13-question post-conference survey to conference attendees. Respondents ranked the research priorities. The survey results show that the cross-cutting cancer research priorities designed to transform cancer care for women Veterans at the VA fit into 5 broad areas of study, including (1) care quality for treatment, (2) improving treatment, (3) care quality of molecular and genetic testing, (4) risk reduction through risk assessment and germline genetic testing, and (5) establishing strategic partnerships. Cases of active tuberculosis (TB) in the U.S. Military have fallen over the last century in large part due to improved screening and treatment options. The subset of multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) is almost nonexistent within the U.S. Military. We present a case of MDR-TB in an active duty U.S. Military health care worker and discuss several considerations for treatment that may present challenges for U.S. Military medical practitioners. A 30-year-old active duty Soldier was referred to Army public health services after a bronchoscopy sample was positive for Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex. Sputum smears were negative for acid-fast bacilli, suggesting lower risk for community spread. One month after initiation of the standard 4-drug regimen for active TB, genetic susceptibility testing found the patient's M. tuberculosis isolate to be resistant to rifampin, isoniazid, and pyrazinamide. Contact investigation efforts among co-workers and family members fortunately found no new interferon-gamma release assay conversions. Coordination of public health assets to ensure a successful treatment regimen occurred across varied local, state, and federal agencies. Atypical medications required coordination with the FDA for procurement. An extensive surveillance plan for medication adverse effects was required. Finally, questions of public health authority versus patient autonomy arose requiring multidisciplinary input and ethical discussions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The 2024 EACTS Guidelines on perioperative medication in adult cardiac surgery offer evidence-based recommendations for managing medications before, during, and after cardiac surgery. The guidelines stress the need for a multidisciplinary approach to enhance patient outcomes and minimize complications. Topics covered include anticoagulation therapy, antithrombotic drug use, postoperative atrial fibrillation management, and antibiotic prophylaxis to prevent surgical site infections. The document aims to improve patient care and outcomes in cardiac surgery through the implementation of recommended medication strategies and calls for further research to address knowledge gaps in the field. Obesity is a risk factor for end-stage hip osteoarthritis. While total hip arthroplasty (THA) is commonly performed to reduce pain and improve function associated with osteoarthritis, obesity has been associated with an increased risk of complications after THA. Although bariatric surgery may also be utilized to reduce weight, the impact of bariatric surgery on THA outcomes remains inadequately understood. This retrospective cohort analysis utilized multicenter electronic medical record data ranging from 2003 to 2023. Patients who have obesity who underwent THA were stratified based on prior bariatric surgery. The final bariatric cohort comprised 451 patients after propensity score matching. Complication rates and revision risks were compared between cohorts at 6, 24, and 72 months. Additional analysis stratified patients by interval between bariatric surgery and THA. At 6-month follow-up, the bariatric cohort had significantly lower risks of surgical site infection, wound dehiscence, and deep vein thrombosis (DVT). At 24 months, the bariatric cohort had a lower risk of DVT. At 72-month follow-up, the bariatric cohort had reduced rates of revision, mortality, cardiac morbidity, and Clavien-Dindo grade IV complications. Obese patients who underwent bariatric surgery prior to THA experienced reduced medical complications at all time points and reduced rates of revision at 72 months relative to a matched cohort who did not undergo bariatric surgery. Background: Addressing modifiable risk factors such as physical inactivity and social isolation could reduce risk of Alzheimer's disease and all-cause dementia, but little is known about which factors individuals are most willing to address or how they prefer to address them. Objective: To examine and describe behavior change goals set by participants during the Systematic Multi-domain Alzheimer's Risk Reduction Trial (SMARRT). Methods: In SMARRT, older adults worked with a health coach and nurse over 2 years to set incremental, personalized goals to reduce dementia risk. We performed quantitative analyses to summarize the numbers of goals per risk factor and qualitative content analyses of health coach and nurse notes to describe types of goals and useful strategies. Results: 82 dementia-free adults (70 to 89 years) with at least two dementia risk factors participated in the SMARRT intervention arm (mean age, 76 ± 5 years; 72% women; 11% Black/African American, 4% Asian, 3% Hispanic, 7% another non-White race). Participants set a median of 12 health coach goals and 1 nurse goals. The risk factors participants chose to work on most frequently were physical activity (95%), hypertension (72%), and cognitive activity (60%). Participants reported that the most useful strategies included support and accountability from the health coach/nurse, setting small goals, and learning to manage setbacks. Conclusions: When given support, older adults at increased risk for dementia set a wide range of goals to reduce dementia risk. A flexible, personalized approach that focuses on setting feasible goals and managing setbacks provides a useful framework for dementia risk reduction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Tehran is one of the most earthquake-prone cities globally. This vast urban center, with a population exceeding 10 million, is intersected by several active faults, presenting significant seismic hazards. The occurrence of two Mw ~5 earthquakes in December 2017 near Malard and May 2020 near Damavand, further underscores the urgent need for comprehensive studies in the capital of Iran. his analysis primarily focuses on the 2017 and 2020 seismic events and their causative faults. Additionally, we highlight the limitations of Tehran's seismic monitoring and active faults map by addressing examples of unidentified seismic unrest and faults. By tackling the significant challenges of seismic studies and evaluating the preparedness of people and cities for a major earthquake, we draw insights from recent earthquakes around Tehran. Results show that the Malard and Damavand earthquakes occurred on the previously unknown and Mosha faults, respectively. Sparse seismic stations limit route detection thresholds and location accuracy of seismicity near Tehran. In addition, we show that the dispersion of population and distressed fabrics in Tehran is clustered, and the vulnerability to earthquakes is linked to both physical and social factors. To review the criteria for the selection of estrogens and especially progestogens for optimizing Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT). The main criteria are primarily derived from the Women's Health Initiative (WHI)-trial, disclosing the main risks like endometrial cancer, coronary heart disease (CHD), stroke, venous tromboembolism (VTE) and breast cancer. In addition observational studies must be considered for individualizing MHT, because WHI has tested only one preparation and has a lot of problems like early opening of the hormone/placebo-code (i.e., loss of placebo control), in 60% MHT-initiation too late, and in 40% risk factors for cardiovascular diseases and breast cancer. Pharmacological properties should be considered, such as only oral, but not transdermal estradiol increases VTE-risk. The choice of progestogens could be dependent on the different "partial effects" on steroid receptors, e.g., use of anti-androgenic progestogens in metabolic syndrome, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) etc., taking advantage of the anti-mineralocorticoid effect of drospirenone to stabilize blood pressure and reduce the risk of stroke, selection of tibolone for patients with sexual dysfunctions because its androgenic properties etc. Most important for the selection of the progestogen is endometrial efficacy, primary indication for progestogens in MHT. Therefore regular endometrial monitoring is reommended, using sequential or continuous combined regimens; "hormonal curettage" and/or the progestogen challenge text to avoid endometrial hyperproliferation. Levonorgestrel-IUD as progestogen component can reduce progestogen-dependent risks, offering also contraception, but often with longer bleeding problems, in contrast to sequential regimens of MHT, which can be used to treat irregular bleedings. Other main indications are treatment of climacteric complaints and prevention of osteoporosis and possible other preventive options. Regarding contraindications, according to the general rules of "class-labeling", they are the same for every MHT despite there are differences in benefits and risks. Choice of the timing of MHT-initiation is crucial to whether cardiovascular prevention (early start) or (like in WHI) increased risk of CHD and stroke occurs. The increased risk of breast cancer can be reduced using progesterone or its isomer dydrogesterone. Since, however, this risk cannot been excluded with any MHT, recommendations for screening on the possible development of breast cancer are given, on the basis of own recent research. Criteria for the selection of MHT are mainly to reduce possible risks as seen in WHI since for every MHT efficacy is good and essentially the same. Often the best choice is estradiol combined with progesterone or dydrogesterone, but also other progestogens should be considered including LNG-IUD, to optimize and individualize MHT. Because alcohol consumption is an established cause of female breast cancer, understanding whether cessation affects risk is of public health importance. In a recent meta-analysis, compared with continuing consumption, the relative risk (RR) for cessation was 0.95 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.88–1.01). Because intake of alcohol is more consistently associated with estrogen receptor positive (ER+) than negative (ER-) subtypes, we conducted a meta-analysis of alcohol cessation for ER-specific breast cancer risk using data from three cohort studies and one population-based case-control study (ER + n = 3,793; ER- n = 627) with information reported on cessation and ER status. Compared with continuing consumption, cessation was associated with lower risk of ER+ (RR = 0.88, 95%CI, 0.79–0.98) but not ER- (RR = 1.23, 95%CI, 0.98–1.55) breast cancer. These results suggest that, compared with continuing consumption, alcohol cessation may reduce ER + but not ER- breast cancer risk. Objectives: To describe the impacts of four Veterans Health Administration (VA) Quality Enhancement Research Initiative (QUERI) projects implementing an evidence‐based lifestyle intervention known as the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP). Data Sources and Study Setting: 2012–2024 VA administrative and survey data. Study Design: This is a summary of findings and impacts from four effectiveness‐implementation projects focused on in‐person and/or online DPP across VA sites. Data Collection/Extraction Methods: Patient demographics, participation data, and key findings and impacts were summarized across reports from the VA Diabetes‐Mellitus Quality Enhancement Research Initiative (QUERI‐DM) Diabetes Prevention Program (VA DPP) Trial, QUERI‐DM Online DPP Trial, the Enhancing Mental and Physical Health of Women through Engagement and Retention (EMPOWER) QUERI DPP Project, and EMPOWER 2.0 QUERI Program. Principal Findings: Between 2012 and 2024, four VA QUERI studies enrolled 963 Veterans in DPP across 16 VA sites. All participants had overweight/obesity with one additional risk factor for type 2 diabetes (i.e., prediabetes, elevated risk score, or history of gestational diabetes) and 56% (N = 536) were women. In addition to enhancing the reach of and engagement in diabetes prevention services among Veterans, these projects resulted in three key impacts as follows: (1) informing the national redesign of VA MOVE! including recommendations to increase the number of MOVE! sessions and revise guidelines across 150+ VA sites, (2) enhancing the national evidence base to support online DPP delivery options with citations in national care guidelines outside VA, and (3) demonstrating the importance of gender‐tailoring of preventive care services by and for women Veterans to enhance engagement in preventive services. Conclusions: Over the past decade, the evolution of VA QUERI DPP projects increased the reach of and engagement in diabetes prevention services among Veterans, including women Veterans who have been harder to engage in lifestyle change programs in VA, and resulted in three key impacts informing type 2 diabetes and obesity prevention efforts within and outside of VA. Already, we are increasingly encountering the consequences of dangerous climate impacts on buildings and structures. These effects are particularly evident in the thawing of permafrost, geological hazards, floods, mudflows, as well as forest and landscape fires. Of course, climate change also influences seismic and tsunami risks. To plan protective measures for populations in hazardous zones in a timely manner, it is necessary to be able to predict the parameters of these dangers, assess the vulnerability of buildings and structures, and evaluate the risks to the population.
