The text explains the phenomenon of hope from a phenomenological point of view, i tis an explanation of hope and its understanding in the context of human live. We know hope from a Christian perspective, such as salvation salvation, forgiveness, hope for eternal life. In the postmodern age, human existence has changed and hope needs to be thought through in new contexts. The question arises as to what is really hope. Althought it does not seem important, understanding hope and distinguising it is a condition of well-being of the individual and society. Hope must not be an illusion or a mere daily hope of fulfilling our wishes. Hope is above all action, it is not surrender and resignation. True, transcendent hope is born in deep crisis, pain, abandonment, it comes to us in patience, in the act of acceptance, reconciliation. Hope is an awareness of the future in spite of reality. Hope is perseverance, humility and mystery. Hope is joy, it is a force that comes to us from an unidentifiable place, but it spreads everywhere. Hope also relates to the existence of the whole world, to the responsibility for maintaining the conditions of life on Earth, to the dignified and fully lived life of individuals. Purpose at work. Motivations of Workers of Selected Low-threshold Facilities for Children and Youth Bc. Michaela Valentová Abstract Diploma thesis focuses on the experience of purposefulness of employees of low- threshold facilities for children and youth. In theoretical part low-threshold facilities are firstly conceptualized as a part of Czech organized civil society. Secondly, relevant theories of purpose are introduced. In empirical part, qualitative research is conducted by in-depth interviews with nine employees of two typical civil society organizations. Workers of low-threshold facilities for children and youth construct their purpose around four categories: helping clients, professionality, work ethics and self-development. Each of these categories brings specific consequences for their organizations. The theory expects purpose to be inspirational for others, however research participants do not reflect on the possibility to inspire their clients that way. This work suggests it is caused by workers' strong emphasis on professionality which creates borders in relationships between clients and workers and also limits the possibility to inspire one another with purpose. The thesis gives a perspective on life seen through the Scout's eyes. It deals with the life and the thinking of the people who were or have been active members of this movement. The practical part of the thesis focuses, through eight narrative interviews, on the experience of the Scout movement members and the subjective purpose of their own experience throughout their life. It describes as well what these individuals have found within the movement, what they have identified or conversely disagreed with and what values and approaches they prefer in their lives. The practical part seeks the essence of something that a Scout's soul is comprised of, it means, what makes a Scout a Scout. The analysis of individual interviews exposed several topics and subtopics, where the correlation between them was examined. These topics turned into a syllabus or basis for the theoretical part, where it was described and clarified to the reader with the help of the reference literature.

The bachelor thesis focuses on old age as a period of balancing lived life and accepting one's own finiteness. The themes of old age, mortality and the meaning of life are put in the theoretical and research part of the thesis into mutual context. Using in-depth interviews with individuals living in a selected home for the elderly, the practical part focuses on mapping their assessment of life and finding meaning in it, accepting life in a home for the elderly and relating these seniors to their own mortality. The selected seniors evaluate their lives positively and perceive them as meaningful. The main sources of meaning in life is primarily relationships and a particular society. The home for the elderly is perceived by the respondents as a place to live and some sort of liberation. Going to this institution is mostly taken positively and the seniors are satisfied there. The selected seniors do not think about death and are reconciled to their mortality. They see death as the logical end of life, of which they have no fear. However, there is a fear of dying and a wish not to be a burden to others.

This thesis deals with families of a child with inborn and gained disability. The core of the work lies in text analysis based upon a discussion with two mothers with a child with a disability. The analysis pays particular attention to the way of coping with such a difficult life situation. Further it focuses on inner and external factors that help to acquire back a life well- being of those mothers. Theoretical part contains a family theme, specifics of raising and education of a child with a disability and coping strategies. The aim of this work is to be utilised as a source of inspiration for those families that are going through similar life situation.

The aim of the dissertation is to give an insight into adolescents' meaning in life in the context of moral development, its constitutive elements and sources of meaning which include values, goals and tasks of life. The dissertation is divided into two parts - theoretical and empirical. The theoretical component consists of six chapters. In Chapter 1 the term 'meaning' is defined and there are some attempts to introduce it. The theoretical part includes a range of psychological conceptions, concepts and models illustrating the variety of views on meaning of human existence, sources of meaning and its ways of seeking and finding which lead to meaningful creation of life. Theoretical part focuses on children's Home as an institution and on social work in children's Home. It describes possible causes for placing children in constitutional care and socially-legal children protection. It also describes family and related di- sorders of parenthood and families. It's mentioned here the meaning of life and questions about the purpose of existence as viewed by Viktor E. Frankl. The theore- tical part characterizes working in direct client care and children age categories, es- pecially preschool age, school age and adolescence. The deprivation of child related to placement in children's home is also described at the end of theoretical part. Practical part concentrates on qualitative research with the goal of mapping ideas of children about life from the view of caretakers. It processes structured inter- views with open questions of four participants, then it separates the children ideas into age groups, where the reader can even see how the ideas have evolved with age.

The thesis is focused on the issue of the perception of the meaning of life in the middle-aged generation, which tends to be characterised by a 'mid-life crisis'. The term is often associated with negative phenomena such as physical ageing, career stagnation, marriage boredom and the general stereotype of life. Here, the importance of logotherapy, which helps us to find meaning in life, helps us to communicate in social work, e.g. existential loneliness and loss of purpose in life, is precisely important. The work is drawn up interdisciplinarily on the basis of professional literature, mapping the concept of middle age from the point of view of various authors, the field of change, decision-making and the meaning of the so-called transition period, when one finds oneself between something that one was and something that one will be. From a philosophical and psychological point of view, the work is focused on the search for the meaning of life. Attention is also given to basic concepts and theoretical approaches relating to the meaning of life, with the aspect placed on human goals, life values, motivation, the value of health, the value of love, happiness, life as a calling. The aim of the thesis is to map how the period and meaning of life for the middle-aged generation (described as the "midlife crisis") is perceived from the perspective of the disciplines of science. Indicate options of solutions and promote personal satisfaction in the midlife crisis, hint at options to prevent the negative consequences associated with entering the second half of life. This diploma thesis looks into the issues of death and dying. Based on a chosen work of fiction, it endeavours to remit the topic of fear of dying and concerns on the possibilities of how to deal with it from points of view of a dying person as well as that of an accompanying one. By using and connecting approaches used in sociology of literature and social work, it aims to appraise the benefit of reading fiction on the given topic for social workers in their professional as well as personal life. The work of fiction therefore serves as an alternative receptive material. By its interpretation, a social worker or layman can gain a more profound knowledge of current social issues, which the last matters of a human unquestionably belong to.

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyse the Heidegger's daseinsanalysis. I focus in particular on a description of its roots and basics, that it originates from. Furthemore I refer to its philosophical fundament and its practical application to a psychotherapy, where it helps patients to grasp their lost life balance and orientation. This diploma thesis deals with the issue of the Romani children and their motivation for learning. It is based on a widely believed idea that motivation of the Romani ethnic group in general is different from the vast majority of population. In practice this problem may manifest itself when the children in question are unwilling to learn, they disrupt the educational process, they refuse to go to school and discontinue their further education as such. The theoretical part of the paper is focused on describing Romani people and their particularities connected with the family environment in which the Romani children are brought up and which strongly forms their attitudes. It also determines the amount of motivation for learning as a starting point for success in terms of education. Motivational factors depend on the value of education in the broader socio-cultural context of the Romani minority. The practical part of the thesis is based on the ethnographic research. This bachelor thesis examines new religious movements and their placement into today's world. In the first chapter the basic terms such as "religion", "new religious movements" and "cults" are defined. Characteristic traits of cults and their regime is also being dealt with in this part. In the second chapter the term "youth" is defined and examined from psychological and religious point of view. The term "leisure" is then also defined and different ways of spending leisure time are suggested. The thesis introduces hazardous aspects of spending leisure time which occur mainly at the time of adolescence. In the third chapter the interconnection of these issues is being examined and the author is dealing with the question whether, and to what degree, these cults can influence a healthy development of the adolescent.

The work has a theoreticalempirical character. The theoretical part is based on the scientific literature processed evidence relating to the issue of the meaning of life, especially of philosophical and psychological perspective. The aim of the thesis is a close examination of spirituality and view of life among people who find themselves in the pre finem period. Spirituality is understood as a relation to sanctity of either religious or irreligious, intrinsic or extrinsic nature. Spirituality turns out to be of significance as a coping strategy, the means by which people come to terms with their illness and proximity to death. In this sense, we focus on the participants' search for the meaning of life, illness and death during the pre finem period. The basis of this thesis stems partly from the H. G. Koenig and K. L. Pargament's theory of religious coping. The belief in life after death, be it literal or symbolic, is understood as a coping strategy as well, with reference to Terror Management Theory or Meaning Management Theory. To evaluate the attitude towards illness and death we use the concept of five stages of grief developed by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross based on her clinical experience, and the theory of Wong, Reker and Gesser, the authors of Death Attitude Profile Revised questionnaire (DAP-R). The first part of my Diploma Thesis is dedicated to dying, it focuses on the perspective of the dying person. It also deals with the essential topics as hospice and palliative care. The second part tries to analyse ethically and evaluate in what sense is dying activity or inactivity and what possible moral attitudes may engage dying person in process of dying. At the beginning of the second part, there are defined the key words activity and inactivity. Basically, I'm trying to use this analysis to ethnically evaluate in which sense of dying is the dying person actually conducting and in which failures to act. Then follows simple typological analysis and evalauation based on inspiring typology of German philosopher Robert Spaemann. In the final part of the Thesis there are implied some connections between dying and the problem of sense of life. The most important is the answer of this question if needs of the sense is belong to everyone (included of dying people) in the same way. Also, how important is the influence in moral attitude of actual human after the sense of life.

This bachelor thesis focuses on the issues of a life purpose and a value orientation. The research is based on patients, who are being treated for a drug addiction at the Červený Dvůr Psychiatric hospital. The first part of the thesis focuses on giving definition to the terms "life purpose" and "value orientation", primarily in the context of Victor Emanuel Frankl´s logotherapy and existential analysis. Further ahead, the definition of a drug addiction and the theory of addiction´s origin is discussed as well. The exploration part of the thesis presents the results of research, which was carried out at the Červený Dvůr Psychiatric hospital since November 2016 to March 2017. 33 (25 men, 8 women) respondents, who are being treated for drug addiction, participated in the research. The Logo-test, Existential scale and Value and purpose evaluating and ordering methods were used for collecting the data. The results show, that patients have issues mainly in the area of life values fulfilling. Further the research points out, that staying in the institution has a positive impact on decreasing an existential frustration and positively influencing the perception of meaningfulness of life. The research proved that experiencing meaningfulness and occurrence of existential frustration differs at patients that are being treated for the first time and at patients who are being treated repeatedly.

This thesis deals with the profession of social worker, the spiritual dimension of human, logotherapy and the questions of the sense of life. It presents logotherapy, which works with a particular concept of the sense of life. Logotherapy describes three possible ways, how to find the sense of life.

This Bachelor's pursuit discusses the Burnout syndrome of a nurse on intensive care ward. It shows why the enthusiasm of a young nurse disappears so fast although she has the spark to start with. In the theoretical part the Burnout syndrome is defined, the cause of emergence, its stages, the utterences and prevention. The base of the empirical part stands on the quntitative research of the permanent exhaustion of the medical staff. It refers to the connection between the Burnout syndrome and the working environment, interpersonal relationships and private life of an ordinary nurse. In the research samples are nurses, working on five different wards within one hospital in Prague. The research was done through two different questionnaires: standardized and half- structured.

The work includes definition of death and some outline look at death in the past and the present. It deals with the ethical context of death and dying. It also describes the emergence and the development of hospices, starting points and objectives of hospice care and provision of hospice care. This work is about the way we understand the concept of meaning of life. We particularly dwell upon existential analysis of American psychologist Irvin Yalom. We focus on his work as opposition to pessimism and nihilistic moods in nowadays society. This thesis deals with the subject concerning the education of jewish children in the ghetto Terezín during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. It is focused on how the results of the tutors' and the teachers' educational influence are reflected in the magazines illegally written by jewish children in 1942 - 1944. The quotations from four selected magazines and their content analysis prove the reflexion of the education in the children's literary work. They apparently show a positive influence of the Terezín educational conception ("education in and for a community") and a personal example of the adults who worked with the children - the tutors and the teachers.

The work deals with the psychological direction of logotherapy. The theoretical part introduces its origins, development and content, in the form logotherapeutic values. These values are elaborated in detail, so that they can be understood by pupils at the senior primary school. Furthermore, it summarizes the stage of development corresponding to the age group of pupils at the senior primary school with respect to both, physical and mental and also neological aspects. The practical part contains an implementation of logotherapeutic values in the education of pupils at the senior primary school in the General Educational Program of basic education. This includes the love, faith, hope, death, suffering and guilt, as understood by logotherapy, in the Ethics Education subject or in the cross-sectional topic of Personality and Social Education.

The thesis deals with the spirituality of a drug addiction therapy. The first chapter classifies drugs and characterizes drug addictions and their therapies. To clear up the context and point of view, the second chapter explains the meaning of spirituality in relation to its development. First, it intorduces the ancient spirituality, based on heatheninsmas, a meaning of Sanctity in relation to our ethnic origin. Further on, it pictures the Christian spirituality with its practical aspects. Next, the spirituality is viewed through psychology with the central idea of the sense of life. This part highlights diverse views of various authors which are put to one common context. Furthermore, the second chapter describes the connections between spirituality, drug addictions and therapeutic methods using spiritual aspects which appear to be useful in the therapy of drug addictions.

Dissertation is focused on widowhood of old women living in Czech Republic. The work shows specifics of old age especially flexibility to changes, quality and life meaningfulness in old age, covers marriage in old age and describes dealing with losses of partner in old age. It presents theme of dealing with losses in old age, describes processes and kinds of grief, mourning, rites and consultancy for the bereaved. Special attention is paid to handicapped old women status and risks related to it which could jeopardize them. Dissertation also delimits the term of widowhood and focuses on its specifics. Attention is paid to the other reasons of loneliness which are not related to widowhood. Theoretical chapters are supplemented with information from six detailed conversations with widows and also presents the author's own experience which she obtained from practice in retirement homes and from her presence in the voluntary organization "Kavárnička dříve narozených".

My work analyses the legislation changes in the area of social and legal protection of children in the Czech Republic that have been introduced over the last two years. This work focuses on impacts of these changes in the practice of transferring children to substitute care as well as ethical aspects directly connected with this process. Laws impacting the social and legal protection of children are being compared in order to understand the legal rights of children. The consequences of the legislative changes have a direct effect on the processes of handing children to substitute care. The work is not only concerned with the practical impacts, but also with the ethical side of the problem which was identified as the most important in my thesis. Case reports from my own practice provide a complementary evidence to the reader to better understand the process of placement of children into substitute care both at professional and ethical levels.

This bachelor's thesis deals with perception problems of life values of people living without a partner. The theoretical part is focused on summarizing of theoretical findings related to these problems. The general characteristics of early adulthood and related developmental tasks of life period given are clarified here, as well as the theoretical definition of the meaning of life, life values and its categorization. Last but not least it deals with the field of relations and its attributes like affiliation, intimacy and perception of self-concept. The goal in the practical part is to answer research targets concerning meanings of life without a partner, perception of meaning of life and related definition of scales of values. Even before the beginning of the quantitative research, a pilot study with two respondents, who subsequently didn't participate in the research, was carried out. The method of the research chosen is a semi-structured interview and a modified list of values adopted from Smékal (2002). The research was implemented in cooperation with four respondents at the ages of 20-30 years, the special-purpose collection according to specified criteria was chosen as the method of the data collection.

The main topic of this thesis is the subjective experience of anxiety. The author has attempted to secede from the strictly psychological level, therefore there are authors dealing with the overlap of human existence included. As a result, the thesis is also a partly philosophical view of anxiety. However, given the focus of the author, the greater part of the work is based on the psychological view. In the practical part, the hypothesis that the consciousness of the meaning of life has a certain influence on the experience of anxiety was confirmed. However, this effect is not as large and as clear as Frankl describes in his work.

Bc. Monika Pavelková ABSTRACT The aim of the paper is to study closely the influence of spirituality on attitude towards death among people who find themselves in a situation of proximity to death. Due to the fact that spirituality proves to be a significant factor influencing the process of accepting death, increasing attention is paid nowadays to the spiritual component of personality and to saturation of its spiritual needs. Spirituality is understood in a broader sense as relation towards sanctity of either a religious or an irreligious person. Another aspect is the means by which the person comes to terms with own spirituality, whether it is intrinsic and becomes the goal of the person's life-long endeavour, or it can be described as extrinsic because it does not permeate his or her everyday reality. Spiritual orientation of a person is projected into his or her values and goals, it determines the way towards the meaning of life, which exceeds the person proper. V. E. Frankl speaks about reaching the meaning of life through self- transcendence by way of realization of values of creation, experiences and attitudes. This thesis follows up young people's value preferences in period of young adulthood. These people are coming from Christian's families and were led to Christian's merits in childhood. Aim of the thesis is to find out significant life priorities of these people and their influence on motives, attitudes, targets and way of their life. Theoretical part includes not only information about basic terms concerning values, needs and motivations, their description and division, but it also deals with Christianity and family as basic Christian merit. Theoretical part also describes human's ontogenesis in context of evolution of his spirituality focusing on adolescence and young adulthood evolution phases. Empirical part of thesis includes qualitative research analysis. This research is trying to find out the effect of family traditions, Christian education, parent's faith and perception of church societies influence of activities on life and preferred merits of informants. At analysis of obtained data it was used qualitative attitude with method of questioning and interview technique.

Psychological and spiritual aspects of ageing crisis. This Bachelor's thesis focuses on the psychological and spiritual aspects of ageing crisis. The aim of this thesis is to identify ageing crisis difficulties and what potential does the ageing have in terms of personal growth. In the first part research by compilation method is presented. The attention is focused on the psychological aspects, including an acceptance of the physical and psychological changes, new family relations and career changes. The spiritual aspects of ageing crisis involves a path of spiritual growth, looking for the meaning of life, crisis of faith, conversion to faith and hope. In the second part, the thesis analyses the results of questionnaire survey among the people of faith for ages between forty to sixty-four. The respondents had been given a chance to express their opinion via free text to questions regarding ageing, meaning of life and the role of Church Community in helping the ageing people. This bachelor thesis deals with some aspects of pastoral work of persons with disabilities. The aim is to describe the principles of pastoral work with disabled persons. First chapter is focused on pastoral definition and handicap. Next chapter describes basic principles of pastoral work with disabled people. It is focused here on dialogue specifics of conducting interviews with various types of disabilities. It is focused here on communication and other barriers that hinder the effective interview management with disabilities. For some types of disabilities I mention suitable aids for pastoral or I directly refer to some Czech and foreign Christian organizations that are engaged in the pastoral care of disabled. The third chapter deals with the frequent themes in pastoral work with disabled people. There are themes like: suffering, the sense of life, segregation, self-esteem and relationships. The supplement of bachelor thesis contains stories of pastorals who have gained experience with the disabled people during pastoral.

The aim of this paper is to acquaint the reader with the problems of socially pathological phenomena and theoretical approaches to the study of the phenomena. This is mainly theoretical content of the text. In the practical part, the author attempts to challenge social pathology to look somewhat less typical optics. Reveals a possible link between socio-pathological manifestations and forms of contemporary work . Émile Durkheim, respectively work in which the issues of their time engaged , the writer served as an imaginary point that both the mouth of the introductory chapter the practical part, which is also a kind of springboard for subsequent chronological shift toward the presence and characteristics of work that are typical of the current organized form . The aim of the author is also to point out the still current Durkheim reflection on the relationship between certain types of work and socio-pathological phenomena . The author of the text places significant emphasis on the historical and economic context of the transformation of work and trying to also capture the essential features of the thinking was typical of the period in which E. Durkheim formed. Much of the space is devoted to contemporary neoliberalism or phenomena associated with postmodernism, their relationship and access to socio- pathological phenomena.
