Abstract

Aim: Herein, the oxidation of chemical compounds as sound signals, prepared either by chemical, physical, mechanical, biological methods were reported. Objectives: To fabricate the synthesized material for example, nanoparticle, ceramic, electro catalyst as electrode, by mixing the synthesized material with a suitable binder or they may be mixed with a solvent to function as an electrolyte. In this case, 40 % formalin as electrolyte, platinum and calomel electrode as positive and negative electrodes respectively have been used to formulate an electrochemical cell. Methodology: This cell is connected with the sound card to process the sound signals and analyzed using Sig view software. The sound signals after noise deduction were further processed using MATLAB to get information about the signals. Results: For example, Frequency, Amplitude, etc. of those cells can be obtained. The FFT spectrum obtained by this method correlates well with the FTIR spectrum of formalin. Any Conductive chemical oxidation could be processed in this way and their chemical information could be digitized and saved in cloud. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The design and characterization of a low-cost, open-source auditory delivery system to deliver high performance auditory stimuli is presented. The system includes a high-fidelity sound card and audio amplifier devices with low-latency and wide bandwidth targeted for behavioral neuroscience research. The characterization of the individual devices and the entire system is performed, providing a thorough audio characterization data for varying frequencies and sound levels. The system implements the open-source Harp protocol, enabling the hardware timestamping of devices and seamless synchronization with other Harp devices.

Abstract

A zero-cost multichannel analyser (MCA) system based on the digital signal (pulse) processing (DSP) convenient for γ -ray spectroscopy with conventional detectors such as scintillators and high-purity germanium (HPGe) has been implemented. The in-built high-performance analog-to-digital converter (ADC) in the sound card, an integral component of the present day personal computers, was used to digitise the signals from the radiation detectors. These pulses were then shaped using the established digital signal processing recursive algorithms. The filtered data were then displayed as histograms which then could be subjected to the traditional analysis to obtain peak parameters and the associated quantities were deduced. Abstract

This article presents a Johnson noise thermometer with a signal acquisition system based on a sound card. The thermometer uses a simple analogue circuit to measure the Johnson noise on a resistor. No external hardware or power supply is necessary, except for a reference multimeter. Data processing is performed in real time on a personal computer using LabView software. The results show that the developed thermometer has an expanded uncertainty (k = 2) of 0.8 ℃ over a temperature range from − 196 ℃ to 300 ℃, with a measurement time of 5 min. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The authors analyse the most common free and shareware software for analysis and generation of sound signals, which is based on the use of ADC (analogue-to-digital converter) and DAC (digital-to-analogue converter) of a computer sound card. With the accordance to the present paper, there is practically no domestic Ukrainian-language software for working with ADC and DAC sound cards. The authors propose to use affordable personal mobile cardiographs, both for the study of biopotentials and the processing of other low-frequency signals. The staff of Chemistry Department of G.S. Skovoroda KhNPU has been developing a software and methodological complex of SchoolKit, one of the applications of which is called SoundCardScientificKit. It includes an audio signal analyzer, a special shape signal generator, and a frequency spectrometer. This software is universal and widely used. Therefore, it can be used both in research, and to demonstrate physical phenomena associated with sound or electrical oscillations of low frequency from 20 to 20,000 Hz. The main functions and interface of the SoundCardScientificKit software are described. The authors conducted testing the special form signal generator of the SoundCardScientificKit application with Realteck High Definition Audio sound card. The results showed the reproduction of the programmed frequency to be occuring with high accuracy. The principle circuits of potential amplifiers used in the development of electrocardiographs, myographs, etc., were analyzed. A simple circuit of the biopotential amplifier based on three TL082 chips has been developed, which includes a high-efficiency noise filter with a frequency of 50 Hz.The paper shows this amplifier to have been used to obtain an ECG (electrocardiogram). Particular attention is paid to the environmental aspects of the creative activity of students. The authors suggest that, when developing electronic devices, if possible, one can use the equipment that requires disposal. Reusing unusable equipment not only removes the problems associated with processing, but also allows students to learn about the principles of operation and design features., Проаналізовано найбільш розповсюджене безкоштовне та умовно безкоштовне програмне забезпечення для аналізу та генерації звукових сигналів, робота якого ґрунтується на використанні АЦП (аналогово-цифровий перетворювач) та ЦАП (цифро-аналоговий перетворювач) звукової карти комп’ютера. Показано, що практично відсутнє вітчизняне україномовне програмне забезпечення для роботи з АЦП та ЦАП звукової карти. На кафедрі хімії та фізики ХНПУ ім.Г.С.Сковороди розробляється програмно-методичний комплекс SchoolKit (ПМК), одним із застосунків якого є SoundCardScientificKit. Він включає аналізатор звукових сигналів, генератор сигналів спеціальної форми та спектрометр-частотомір. Даний програмний засіб є універсальний. Тому може бути застосований, як в науково-дослідницькій роботі, так і для демонстрації фізичних, явищ, що пов’язані зі звуковими або електричними коливаннями низької частоти від 20 до 20000Гц. Описано основні функції та інтерфейс застосунку SoundCardScientificKit. Проведено тестування генератора сигналів спеціальної форми додатку SoundCardScientificKit із застуванням звукової карти Realteck High Definition Audio. Показано, що відтворення запрограмованої частоти відбувається з високою точністю. Проаналізовано принципові схеми підсилювачів потенціалів що використовувалися при розробці електрокардіографів, міографів тощо. Розроблено просту схему підсилювача біопотенціалів на основі трьох мікросхем TL082, що включає високоефективний фільтр перешкод частотою 50Гц. Показано, що даний підсилювач може бути використаний для отримання ЕКГ (електрокардіограми). Особлива увага звертається на екологічні аспекти творчої діяльності учнів. Пропонується при розробці електронних пристроїв, за можливістю, використовувати техніку, що потребує утилізації. Повторне використання непридатної до застосування за своїм призначенням техніки, не тільки знімає проблеми пов’язані з її переробкою, а й дозволяє учням ознайомитись із принципами її роботи та конструктивними особливостями.

Abstract

Measuring human capabilities to synchronize in time, adapt to perturbations to timing sequences, or reproduce time intervals often requires experimental setups that allow recording response times with millisecond precision. Most setups present auditory stimuli using either MIDI devices or specialized hardware such as Arduino and are often expensive or require calibration and advanced programming skills. Here, we present in detail an experimental setup that only requires an external sound card and minor electronic skills, works on a conventional PC, is cheaper than alternatives, and requires almost no programming skills. It is intended for presenting any auditory stimuli and recording tapping response times with within 2-ms precision (up to - 2 ms lag). This paper shows why desired accuracy in recording response times against auditory stimuli is difficult to achieve in conventional computer setups, presents an experimental setup to overcome this, and explains in detail how to set it up and use the provided code. Finally, the code for analyzing the recorded tapping responses was evaluated, showing that no spurious or missing events were found in 94% of the analyzed recordings.
