A series of Lu 2(1- x) Tb 2 x (WO 4) 3 (x = 0.00–1.00) white powder materials were prepared by a high-temperature solid-phase method. The crystal structure, microscopic morphology, elemental composition, bandgap energy, photoluminescence properties, and thermal stability of luminescence of the prepared materials were analyzed and studied through room and high temperature X-ray diffraction patterns, field emission scanning electron microscopy images, energy energy-dispersive spectra and X-ray photoelectron spectra, diffuse reflectance spectra, room and high temperature photoluminescence spectra. Under 260 nm excitation, the green emitting Lu 2(1- x) Tb 2 x (WO 4) 3 samples exhibited an optimum Tb3+ doping concentration at x = 0.30. Calculated results illustrate that the concentration quenching was mainly caused by dipole-dipole interaction. Lu 1.98 Tb 0.02 (WO 4) 3 phosphor exhibited thermally enhanced luminescence at 120 °C, with a maximum luminescence intensity of 254 % of the initial room temperature intensity. Lu 1.4 Tb 0.6 (WO 4) 3 phosphor exhibited thermally enhanced luminescence at 150 °C, with a maximum luminescence intensity of 109 % of the initial room temperature intensity. The mechanism of the thermally enhanced luminescence phenomenon is further discussed to be the adsorbed crystal water and the negative thermal expansion of the material. Thermally enhanced luminescence is of great significance in overcoming luminescent thermal quenching phenomenon, improving the luminescence efficiency, optimizing the material design, and so forth. Transparent afterglow crystals are keenly desired for three-dimensional information storage. Herein, CsCdCl3 perovskite crystals were grown by a programmable cooling procedure in a hydrothermal reactor. The pristine crystal showed an abnormal optical behavior where the absorption increased by 2.3 folds at high temperature, leading to a fourfold boost of photoluminescence (PL) intensity. After Mn2+ doping, the PL quantum yield was improved to nearly unity. Importantly, the doped crystals exhibited an ultralong afterglow up to 12 h after ceasing UV excitation and a high transmittance up to 75% in the visible region. This work brought a new member to the library of transparent afterglow crystal, opening up many possibilities to advanced applications such as volumetric display and three-dimensional information encryption. Thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials, which can harvest both singlet and triplet excitons for high-efficiency emission, have attracted widespread concern for their enormous applications. Nevertheless, luminescence thermal quenching severely limits the efficiency and operating stability in TADF materials and devices at high temperature. Herein, a surface engineering strategy is adopted to obtain unique carbon dots (CDs)-based thermally enhanced TADF materials with ≈250% enhancement from 273 to 343 K via incorporating seed CDs into ionic crystal network. The rigid crystal network can simultaneously boost reverse intersystem crossing process via enhancing spin-orbit coupling between singlet and triplet states and suppressing non-radiative transition rate, contributing to the thermally enhanced TADF character. Benefiting from efficient energy transfer from triplet states of phosphorescence center to singlet states of CDs, TADF emission at ≈600 nm in CDs displays a long lifetime up to 109.6 ms, outperforming other red organic TADF materials. Thanks to variable decay rates of the delayed emission centers, time and temperature-dependent delayed emission color has been first realized in CDs-based delayed emission materials.
