Pediatric neuropsychiatric emergency services provide emergency care for children and adolescents with acute psychiatric and neurological disorders. Th ese conditions can occur both in chronic neuropsychiatric diseases and also in children and adolescents who have not shown previous signs and symptoms. Pediatric neuropsychiatric emergencies are varied, requiring a multidisciplinary approach leading to a rapid and correct diagnosis followed by eff ective treatment. The diagnosis and treatment of these conditions require an emergency medical evaluation, as they may be based on a medico-surgical cause or may have serious medico-surgical consequences. Th is study highlights the neuropsychiatric disorders consulted by the on-call service of the Department of Pediatric Neurology and Psychiatry during the years 2017-2019 as psychiatric or neurological emergencies, most being referred from the Emergency Reception Unit Service (UPU) of the Emergency Clinical Hospital for Children „Louis ?"rcanu " Timioara. The most common pediatric psychiatric emergencies were: psychomotor agitation, anxiety disorders, aff ective disorders, emotional and behavioral disorders, and the most common pediatric neurological emergencies were: traumatic brain injury (CBT), epilepsy or seizures, headache syndrome and intracranial hypertension syndrome.
