2. Stabilization of time-delay systems with a controlled time-varying delay and applications

Abstract

We study the stability of a linear system with a point-wise, time-varying delay. We assume that the delay varies around a nominal value in a deterministic way and investigate the influence of this variation on stability. More precisely we are interested in characterizing situations where the time-varying delay system is stable, whereas the system with constant delay is unstable. Our approach consists of relating the stability properties of a system with a fast varying point-wise delay with these of a time-invariant system with a distributed delay. Then we can use frequency domain methods to analyze the problem and to derive stability criteria. The results are first illustrated with two theoretical examples. Then, we study a model of a variable speed rotating cutting tool. Based on the developed theory, we thereby provide both a theoretical explanation and a quantitative analysis tool for the beneficial effect of a variation of the machine speed on enhancing stability properties, which was reported in the literature. 4. Sampled-data observer design for delayed output-injection state-affine systems.

Abstract

We are considering the problem of observer design for a general class of state-affine systems in presence of output delay and sampling. Two novelties characterize the considered class of systems: (i) the state equation is subject to output injection involving future output values (not accessible to measurement); (ii) the injected output values come in the state equation not only through a driving term but also through the state matrix. These novel characteristics entail the loss of the system state-affine nature and lead to a new observer design problem never investigated so far. The solution we develop in this paper is a sampled-data based observer of Kalman-like type, augmented with inter-sample predictors and signal saturations. Using both Lyapunov and small-gain arguments, we show that the observer is exponentially convergent for sufficiently small sampling interval and delay, provided an observability condition is satisfied. Abstract

International audience; Controlling continuous-time input-delayed nonminimum-phase linear systems is addressed in the presence of actuator saturationand output-disturbances. Focusing on output-reference tracking, the control design is dealt with in the pseudo-polynomials ring. Aquite appealing L2 -tracking performance is shown to be achievable in the presence of arbitrary inputs i.e. the output referenceand the output disturbance. The performance is formulated in terms of a well defined output-reference mismatch error (ORME),depending on the inputs’ rate and their compatibility with the actuator saturation constraint.

Abstract

An adaptive output feedback control algorithm for constrained multiple input multiple output linear systems is proposed, able to cope with input and output constraints, output disturbances and measurement noise. The approach relies on a real-time set membership identification algorithm to provide bounds on the predicted plant outputs. These bounds are exploited in a receding horizon control strategy that guarantees recursive satisfaction of constraints. The algorithm yields offset free reference tracking in case of constant output disturbance and zero measurement noise. Abstract

International audience; This article concerns a novel method for sensorless speed control of Permanent Magnet Synchrounous Motor based on adaptive supertwisting sliding mode algorithm. This algorithm is used for motor position observation and for the derivation of the position to deduce the speed. The stability is deduced based on the Lyapunov theory. The Experimental tests, carried out on a test bench, show the pertinence of the proposed scheme.
