Achtergrond De literatuur suggereert dat intersectorale samenwerking belangrijk is om aanslagen door geradicaliseerde personen met psychische problematiek te voorkomen, maar onduidelijk is wat die samenwerking inhoudt en welke percepties daarbinnen opgeld doen. Doel Inzicht verwerven in hoe percepties over radicalisering en psychische problematiek verschillen tussen het veiligheidsdomein en de ggz en hoe dit intersectorale samenwerking beïnvloedt. Methode Kwalitatieve data uit focusgroepbijeenkomsten en interviews met professionals en opleiders uit het veiligheidsdomein en de ggz. Resultaten In de ggz is primair aandacht voor patiëntenzorg, terwijl het veiligheidsdomein veiligheid vooropstelt. De samenwerking wordt benadeeld door te weinig begrip voor en van elkaars domein. Het splitsen van radicalisering met psychische problematiek in strafrecht óf psychiatrie belemmert integrale aanpak. Men ondervindt het beroepsgeheim als struikelblok voor samenwerking. Conclusie Intersectorale samenwerking levert een nuttige bijdrage mits deelnemers hun professionele grenzen bewaken en alleen informatie delen die noodzakelijk en geoorloofd is om tot een effectief plan van aanpak te komen. Veel geïdentificeerde knelpunten zijn algemeen van aard en niet beperkt tot specifieke casuïstiek over radicalisering met psychische problematiek. Zorg- en veiligheidshuizen bieden een goede basis voor intersectorale samenwerking. Opleidingen zouden aanstaande professionals uit verschillende domeinen vertrouwd moeten maken met elkaars (on)mogelijkheden, taken en rollen.

One of the main aims of treatment after successful recovery from anorexia nervosa (AN) is to prevent a relapse. The Guideline Relapse Prevention (GRP) Anorexia Nervosa offers a structured approach to relapse prevention. This study explores how patients and their parents experience working with the guideline. It also describes the factors that support or hinder successful application of the guideline. A descriptive qualitative research design was chosen involving in-depth interviews with seventeen patients with anorexia nervosa and six sets of parents. Patients and family members were generally satisfied with the support provided by the GRP. It contributed significantly to a better understanding of the personal process of relapse. Patients and families valued being able to keep in touch with their professional during the aftercare programme. The GRP supports the patient's use of self-management strategies for relapse prevention.

BACKGROUND: Many patients with an eating disorder report difficulties in regulating their emotions and show a high prevalence of self-injurious behaviour. Several studies have stated that both eating disorder and self-injurious behaviour help emotion regulation, and are thus used as coping mechanisms for these patients. We aimed to determine the prevalence of self-injurious behaviour, its characteristics and its emotion-regulation function in patients with anorexia nervosa or an eating disorder not otherwise specified (n = 136). METHODS: A cross-sectional design using a self-report questionnaire. Mann-Whitney U-tests were conducted to compare the background and clinical variables between patients with self-injurious behaviour and patients without this type of behaviour. Changes in emotional state before and after self-injurious behaviour were tested by Wilcoxon signed rank tests. RESULTS: Our results showed a 41% prevalence of self-injurious behaviour in the previous month. Patients who performed self-injurious behaviour had a statistically significant longer treatment history for their eating disorder than those who did not. Whereas 55% of self-injuring patients had a secondary psychiatric diagnosis, only 21% of participants without self-injurious behaviour did. Regarding the impact of self-injurious behaviour, our results showed a significant increase in "feeling relieved" and a significant decrease in "feeling angry at myself", "feeling anxious" and "feeling angry at others". This indicates that self-injurious behaviour can be regarded as an emotion-regulation behaviour. Participants were usually aware of the causes of their self-injurious behaviour acts. CONCLUSIONS: Professionals should systematically assess the occurrence of self-injurious behaviour in eating disorder patients, pay special attention to patients with more severe and comorbid psychopathology, and those with a long treatment history. Objectives: To test the interrelation of the naturalistic course of depression in older people with long-term support received. Design: Longitudinal cohort study. Methods: A sample of 277 adults age 55-85years participating in the Longitudinal Aging Study Amsterdam, with clinically relevant depressive symptoms at baseline (scores ≥16 on the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale) were followed up over a period of 13years. General estimating equations were used to examine the relation between depression course and emotional/instrumental support received over time. In addition, partner status, gender, and age were tested as modifiers. Results: A 2-way interaction between depression courses types and time showed significant differences in instrumental support received over time in older people with a late-life depression. Three-way interactions showed that associations between depression course and support variables were modified by gender and partner status. Conclusion: Both men and singles, with a chronic course of depression may be at risk to lose emotional and instrumental support over time. Professional attention is needed to prevent a chronic course of late-life depression, and to preserve personal social networks.

So far.there has been very little research on the results of this decision that now let nps share with doctors prescribing psychotropic drugs. AIM: To provide insight into how patients and psychiatrists experience the prescribing behaviours of nps and how nps themselves regard their extended role. METHOD: We performed an explorative study in which we used the data given in prescriptions written by nps, questionnaires exploring patients' experiences and semi-structured interviews with psychiatrists and nps. RESULTS: Between May 2014 and May 2015,13 nps wrote 3542 prescriptions for 565 unique patients. On the whole, patients, psychiatrists and nps expressed positive views on the prescribing of psychotropic medication by nps. CONCLUSION: Our research project confirms that the various stakeholders are satisfied with the prescribing practices of nps. A follow-up study is needed in order to ascertain whether there are qualitative differences between the prescriptions of nps and those of doctors.

Objective: This study analyses the conceptions of and attitude toward multiple sexual partners among youths in Bolgatanga municipality, northern Ghana. Methods: Semi-structured and focus group interviews were held with 71 youths and 12 adults. Results: Youths’ multiple sexual partnerships were found to be related to various factors, including infidelity and distrust in relationships, cultural traditions such as the practice of polygyny and the importance of fertility, and modern developments such as increased school attendance and the use of new media. For boys, important motives for having multiple sexual partnerships are sexual prowess, prestige, desire, and pleasure, while for girls financial independence is important. Conclusion: The various influencing factors and the youths’ personal motives, combined with limited knowledge of SRH and risky sexual behavior prevents the youths from making well-advised and healthy choices concerning their sexual and reproductive wellbeing.

An important part of inpatient treatment for adolescents with anorexia nervosa is to restore normal eating behaviour. Health-care professionals play a significant role in this process, but little is known about their interventions during patients' meals. The purpose of the present study was to describe nursing interventions aimed at restoring normal eating behaviour in patients with anorexia nervosa. The main research question was: 'Which interventions aimed at restoring normal eating behaviour do health-care professionals in a specialist eating disorder centre use during meal times for adolescents diagnosed with anorexia nervosa? The present study was a qualitative, descriptive study that used video recordings made during mealtimes. Thematic data analysis was applied. Four categories of interventions emerged from the data: (i) monitoring and instructing; (ii) encouraging and motivating; (iii) supporting and understanding; and (iv) educating. The data revealed a directive attitude aimed at promoting behavioural change, but always in combination with empathy and understanding. In the first stage of clinical treatment, health-care professionals focus primarily on changing patients' eating behaviour. However, they also address the psychosocial needs that become visible in patients as they struggle to restore normal eating behaviour. The findings of the present study can be used to assist health-care professionals, and improve multidisciplinary guidelines and health-care professionals' training programmes.

The attitude of nurses and treatment staff is crucial in the treatment of patients who self-harm. However, many patients experience that attitude as negative. The aim of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of the Dutch version of the Attitude Towards Deliberate Self-Harm Questionnaire. A total of 261 questionnaires were used to measure validity and reliability. Sensitivity to change was measured using a post-test measurement (n = 171) and a subgroup of 78 participants were given the questionnaire twice for test-retest measurement. Factor analysis revealed four factors explaining 33% of the variance. Cronbach's alpha values ranged 0.585-0.809, with 0.637 for the total scale. Intraclass correlation coefficient was assessed in order to estimate test-retest reliability, revealing the questionnaire was stable over time; the exception was factor 3, which had a value of 0.63. Sensitivity to change was found for the total score, factor one and two, and for three of the five items of factor three. We conclude that the Dutch version of the Attitude Towards Deliberate Self-Harm Questionnaire possesses adequate psychometric properties and is potentially an acceptable instrument for measuring the attitude of nurses and health-care staff towards patients who self-harm in Dutch-speaking countries.
