Abstract

The article discusses a security shortcoming of credit cards containing embedded chips that will be introduced during 2015 by various financial companies including Discover Financial Services Inc. and J. P. Morgan Chase & Co. Card issuers have opted to let users authorize transactions with their signatures rather than personal identification numbers (PINs), thus making the cards vulnerable to fraudulent use if lost or stolen.
