Abstract

The article discusses the design, performance, and service of the U.S. military airplane the F-4 Phantom. According to the article, the plane was designed by the airplane manufacturer McDonnell for the U.S. Navy so that the Navy would have a high-altitude interceptor plane to neutralize bomb threats posed by the Soviet Union to U.S. Navy super carriers. The article also discusses the use of the F-4 in aerial operations during the Vietnam War, particularly against Soviet-manufactured MiG fighter planes.
