Abstract

This article examines the impact of technology on Canadian women's lives. We have witnessed a proliferation of innovative medical devices, domestic equipment, communication methods, computer technologies and biomedical advancements, all of which initially appeared beneficial to women. These advantages, however were superficial because by its very nature, the technology-science paradigm is patriarchal. Women-centered advocates and feminist scholars must explore how hyper-technology will influence women's lived experiences and either promote or impair the project of empowerment.
