Current essay shows Parnaíba (PI) Brazil as one of the best examples of environmental heritage in Brazil. The text deals with two different manners from which the town is perceived: the environmental scenery as a whole and the scenery based on history by an interpretation of buildings that concretize the history, memory and data of the town's historical periods. The preservation of memory and the constitution of the town as a re-interpretation of the spacetime are experienced as a storehouse of environmental heritage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
