Getting sepsis therapy right.

The authors look at research on preventing and reducing mortality from sepsis, which they note is a complication from infections that is a frequent cause of death in hospitals. They cite a study by medical researcher Georg F. Weber and colleagues, reported in the current issue, showing that blocking the cytokine interleukin-3 may be an effective treatment for sepsis, and express caution about this anti-inflammatory treatment approach.
