Abstract

The article presents a case study of a 36-year-old female with necrotic plaque on the calf and thigh following a liver transplant at age 25 for cryptogenic cirrhosis, leading to end stage renal disease. Topics include why the patient was diagnosed with polyarteritis nodosa (PAN), the criteria for diagnosing PAN set by the American College of Rheumatology, and a suggestion that the patient's initial cirrhotic liver could have been the first manifestation of PAN.
