In order to alert the population during a disaster it is essential, to have an alerting system that can use diverse communications channels to reach as many people as possible. The aim of this paper is to present a powerful and effective system which is capable of broadcasting alerts to the population via their televisions. The Alert4All [1] project is developing an innovative multi-channel public alert system that uses HbbTV, an established standard supported by SmartTV's, to disseminate alerts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
