Abstract

The aim of this paper is to discuss Heidegger's criticisms of optimism in modern thought with a scientific and technical base and to analyze its proposal. Heidegger's view of technology as a constituent of contemporary Western thought has meant the rule of a reason of domination and calculation. The loss of thought in modernity occurs in the pursuit of truth since the "will to power" manifests itself in scientific and technical thinking. However, Heidegger's thought is not intended to modify or humanize the world or to create a better being-there in history, although part of certifying the danger of contemporaneity, simply assumes the ineffable route of poetry as illumination.
