Abstract

The article discusses undue regulatory restriction on antiepileptic drug (AED) phenobarbital. Topics discussed include non-availability of treatment guidelines for AEDs in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), national and international restrictions, need of AEDs medical and scientific purposes, and introduction of Mental Health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP) by World Health Organization (WHO) for providing training to healthcare providers regarding epileptic disorders.
