Abstract

The article discusses concerns by Canadian researchers on how the changes modifying how grants are awarded will marginalize some fields and hurt early-career researchers. Topics discussed include plans of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) to restructure advisory boards and eliminate most of the scientific advisory boards, changes to CIHR's system of awarding grants to proposals from researchers and concerns CIHR may eliminate some institutes altogether.
