Current paper discusses education for people who return to or start the schooling process in their adulthood, in the Education of Young People and Adults program, as an instrument for the promotion of mental health. A research with eleven adult students in the first stages of the Primary School showed that the admittance or re-admittance in school provided significant benefits in the life of these people from an emotional, cognitive and social aspect. School attendance provides a remediation and prevention of mental health problems by the empowerment of people through schooling. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
