INCLUSÃO DE GLICERINA BRUTA NA DIETA DE NOVILHAS ZEBUÍNAS SEMI-CONFINADAS.

The objective was to evaluate the effects of inclusion of crude glycerin in the diet of zebu heifers in semi-confinement. 22 heifers were used, with an initial average weight of 278.9 kg, divided into two groups: control group (gc) and treated group (gt). The animals were fed a diet with 12% inclusion of crude glycerin to replace concentrate for a period of 81 days, evaluating performance, carcass classification, renal and liver profile and cost effectiveness. The results showed the average weight gain, body condition score, and finish higher for the treated group housing compared to control group. We conclude that the crude glycerin can be used as an energy source in heifers, but without sacrificing performance, as well as the health of the animal termination, but at a lower cost.
