Abstract

The article discusses disability discrimination in relation to involuntary civil commitments in America, and it mentions legal remedies, stereotypes about mental illness, and prejudice in the U.S. Discriminatory decisions are addressed, along with interpretations of the U.S. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and American federal laws. A dangerousness legal standard is examined, along with mental health laws, psychiatric opinions, and expert witnesses in the U.S.
