Abstract

The article focuses on the emergence of digital or online journalism with an emphasis on U.S. Internet news media firm BuzzFeed. Topics include the launch of the business model "sponsored content" by BuzzFeed which identifies an advertiser of an article, appointment of Mark Schoofs to run its investigative unit, the effect of audience fragmentation on the ability of journalists to have an impact, impact of citizen journalism, and the role of social media in the dissemination of information.
