Abstract

A novel NaZnPO 4 :Eu 3+ (NZPO:Eu 3+ ) phosphors were successfully synthesized via solid state reactions for the first time. The XRD analysis confirms that single orthorhombic phase of NZPO was obtained at 850 °C for 4 h. In NZPO:Eu 3+ phosphor, the 7 F 0 → 5 L 6 transitions resulted in the strongest near UV excitation centered at 395 nm and this phosphor shows strong magnetic-dipole transition dominant red emission at 595 nm. The decay lifetime and the CIE coordinate were investigated, respectively. The results suggest that NZPO:Eu 3+ red-emitting phosphor was a potential candidate for UV based white LEDs applications.
