Abstract

The effective analyzing power for a 3He polarimeter was calibrated at E3He=443MeV. For the calibration, the absolute magnitude of the polarization was determined by means of the double scattering method using the 3He scattering on 12C at 7° in the laboratory frame. The effective analyzing power of Ayeff=0.232±0.010−0.015+0.017 was obtained for the polarimeter with a plastic scintillator of 16mm thickness as analyzer. The energy dependence of Ayeff was measured. The first data of the induced polarization for 3He+12C elastic scattering at E3He=443MeV will be presented. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
