Asplasia cutis with hemorrhage of the superior sagittal sinus: treatment, neurosurgical implications and 18 years follow up case.

Aplasia cutis is a congenital disorder of the skin and underlying tissue. The main complications of larger defects include bleeding that may be deadly. There fore the prompt intervention, accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment are critical for the patient. Controversy about the treatment both surgical and conservative has been always present and with variable results. We present a case of aplasia cutis of full thickness of the scalp and cranium with hemorrhage of the superior sagittal sinus that was treated conservatively, with satisfactory healing and recovering without neurologic complications, after 18 years follow up evaluation.
