Abstract
- The article reports on the vote of Japan's lower house of Parliament on legislation allowing the Japanese armed forces known as the Self-Defense Forces to participate in combat in foreign wars, which had been sought by the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. An overview of the relationship between the passage of the aforementioned legislation and U.S.-Japan relations, including in regard to China's relations with Asian countries, is provided.
