Abstract

Objective: In this research, it was aimed to determine the relationship between the level of burnout of anesthesiologists with job satisfaction and suicide ideation. Methods: 109 anesthesiologists working in education and research, university, private and public hospitals in Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, Izmir, Kütahya, Denizli, Antalya, Samsun, Bolu, Rize, Erzurum, Amasya, Gaziantep, Sanlıurfa, Ağri, Iğdir, Mus were included in the study. Sociodemographic data form, Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale, Maslach Burnout Inventory Scale and Suicidal Ideation Scale were used to collect data in research. Descriptive statistics and statistical analysis of study, correlation and regression analysis tests were used. Results: The level of emotional burnout and reduced personal accomplishment of anesthesiologists was found to reduce the overall level of satisfaction of feeling (ß = -0,380) (ß = -0,292), and the level of depersonalization to affect the overall level of satisfaction (p=0,432). Also there is a relationship between emotional burnout, depersonalization, reduced personal accomplishment and suicide ideation (p<0,001). It was found that the level of emotional burnout of anesthesiologists to increase levels of suicide ideation (ß = 1,286). Conclusion: In our study, it was concluded that burnout among anesthesiologists has a relationship between job satisfaction and suicide ideation. It was determined that emotional exhaustion and reduced personal accomplishment diminish the overall level of satisfaction.
