Abstract

The article discusses how teachers can infuse transition-focused education in elementary classrooms for students with disabilities. Topics discussed include how to incorporate self-determination activities in elementary curriculum, the importance of using role models for promoting career awareness in students with disabilities, and the requirement of transition planning under the U.S. Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) since 1990.
