Abstract

The article focuses on mercury (Hg) which is a fluid metal and its biogeochemical and physicochemical transformation at the atmospheric level. Topics discussed include introduction to sources of mercury on earth, analytical methodology used to for speciation of reactive mercury specie including the sampling and detection of atmospheric Hg along with determination of oxidized mercury in soil and water and Hg cycling in the cryosphere.
