Abstract

The article reports on political campaign finance in the United States, focusing on the disproportionate giving of large amounts of money by small groups. The author cites and explains the statistic that fewer than 400 wealthy families are responsible for approximately half of the money raised thusfar for the 2016 presidential campaign. Further commentary notes the role of Political action committees (PACs) and how such trends make candidates increasingly dependent on particular patrons.
