Abstract

A catalyst-controlledvicinal amino- versus oxy-acetoxylation ofalkenes with PhI(OAc)2as the oxidant is described. Thedivergent synthesis of cyclic ureas and isoureas was achieved in goodyields under mild conditions employing ambident urea nucleophiles.Both terminal and internal alkenes are compatible with this reactionprotocol.
