Abstract

The article presents a study which examines the reservoir forming conditions and exploration potential of Upper Paleozoic in Eastern Linqing Depression in China. Results of the investigation revealed that coal and mudstone of Upper Paleozoic could act as source rocks which have gone through six stages and classify to three burial history types. The gas-generating intensity of coal-bearing source rock has been cited in the study as the key factor to predict favorable hydrocarbon accumulation.
