Description of an incident in which an introductory statement by Australian Prime Minister John Howard that would have explained his choice of reading material in a public reading was excised by the Australian Broadcasting Corp.; Suggestion that media censorship is a function of media deregulation in Britain and the U.S.; State funding of the ABC, which may explain its censorship proclivities; U.S.-style censorship; Consequences of U.S. and British media policies, including mass consolidation of news agents.
