Abstract

This article discusses the growth of humanism, which was popularized by philosopher Ferdinand Canning Scott Schiller during the 20th century. It presents the family background of Schiller, his view of pragmatism, his quest of building humanism as a development of pragmatism, and his criticism of Christian theology.
