Abstract
- This paper identifies several impacts cultural transfers operated by Quebec missionaries from 1945 onwards had on their society and Church of origin, especially with respect to recent immigration. More specifically, it deals with the work achieved by the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers) towards African immigrants through the Afrika Centre they found in Montreal in 1989. This case study exemplifies the dynamic relations that exist between Quebec missionary experience and the challenges posed to socio-ecclesial integration by a growing ethnocultural diversification of the Catholic population in Quebec.
