Abstract

The article presents a case study of an 8-year-old girl who while running, slips, braces her fall with the left upper extremity and then complains of pain in the hand. The pain persists for a few days and the patient is brought to the Emergency Room. Radiographs were obtained and demonstrated an impacted buckle fracture through the base of the left fifth metacarpal. The article discusses the value of comparative views to detect subtle buckle fractures of the metacarpals in children.
