Abstract

The article discusses the financing and managing of the U.S. National Science Foundation's (NSF's) National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON). An overview of the NEON's role in conducting research in ecology, including in regard to the professor and NEON manager Scott Ollinger's frustrations in managing the project, is provided.
