Abstract

The article presents an update on coal markets, coal mining and coal-fired power plants in the U.S. The total combined market capitalization of publicly traded U.S. coal companies was found to be roughly 12.94 billion dollars in June 2015. Since 2012, coal producers' revenues have dropped at least 25 percent.
