Abstract

Isolated resonant converters (RCs) based on a novel resonant-voltage-multiplier rectifier (RVMR) are proposed in this paper. Output voltage regulation is achieved by using simple dual-phase-shift control, through which all of the switches can operate at a constant resonant frequency. Theoretical analysis indicates that, by using the proposed RVMR, the proposed RC can realize zero-voltage switching for all of the active switches and zero-current switching for all of the diodes within the entire operating range without introducing additional circulating current and conduction loss. In addition, the converter is suitable for a wide range of voltage applications due to its isolated buck–boost conversion capability. Furthermore, the output voltage can be increased with the RVMR, which benefits the reduction of the turns ratio of the transformer. The operational principles and characteristics of the proposed converter are presented in detail. The analysis and performance have been fully experimentally validated on a 400-V/400-W-output hardware prototype. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
