Abstract
- While risperidone has been shown to be effective for short‐term (8‐week and 6‐month) management of severe irritability and aggression in children and adolescents with autism, less is known about long‐term effects. Researchers looked at tolerability, safety, and therapeutic benefits of long‐term use of the medication and found that the risks — weight gain, enuresis, and increased appetite — were balanced by the benefits.
