Abstract

The article discusses some developments with vasopressin. Topics covered include the comparison between the use of vasopressin and noradrenaline in septic shock, the beneficial effects of vasopressin on renal perfusion especially when combined with corticosteriods, and the immune-modulating effects of vasopressin. Also discussed are the serious adverse events (SAEs) and pharmacogenetics of vasopressors, and the suggestion that selective V1a agonist selepressin may be preferable to vasopressin.
