Abstract

Investigates the relationship between anti-heat shock protein-60/65 (HSP) immune responses, endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis in the chronic low-level hypercholesterolaemic rabbit model using the Calmette-Guerin (BCG) immunization. Rise in plasma level of mycobacterial antibodies after BCG immunization; Impaired endothelial response and increased atherosclerosis due to BCG immunization; Mediation by immune response against mycobacterial and vascular HSP.
