Abstract

The article discusses the relationship between the former neurosurgeon and 2016 U.S. Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson's political campaign and his performance as a neurosurgeon at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, including in regard to doctors' attitudes on Carson's political perspectives. Carson's 2003 surgery involving the separation of conjoined twins is discussed. The physician assistant Carol James' perspective on Carson's tenure as a doctor is also discussed.
