Main Actors of Building Construction Medium in Early Republican Period Turkey.

Early Republican Period (1923-1950) has of great significance for the architectural history of Turkey in terms of the fundamental changes realized in building construction works of the country after the establishment of Republic. Many regulations and applications were carried into effect in this field by the Republican State for the aim of adjusting these works in order and giving it a contemporary face that was suitable to the ideology of the new Republic. Accordingly, while the roles of the main actors of building construction medium were redistributed, building contract system and the organization of construction works was revised together with the enacted laws and regulations. In this framework, these main actors of building construction medium in Early Republican Period will be examined in this article with respect to their new professional agendas together with a critical analysis of the general structure of building contract system and construction works countrywide.
