Abstract

The article discusses an effort by 2016 U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton to work undercover to prove that the administration of then-U.S. president Richard Nixon was not enforcing a legal ban on giving tax-exempt status to organizations known as segregation academies in the U.S. South during the early 1970s while a law student working for the group the Children's Defense Fund. The article discusses Clinton's relationship with Children's Defense Fund founder Marian Wright Edelman and civil rights and race issues in the 2016 presidential campaign.
