Abstract

Today, the advancement of society and the development of technology that allows you to isolate the education system does not seem to be possible. Due to deve- lopments in technology, education, expectations of individuals varies. An undeniable fact that the contribution of computers in the educational process. Computer, one of the emerging technologies, but using both the individual in everyday life as well as the educational environment is used as a teaching tool. In this study, teachers' computer use skills, computer and technology education environment is important in terms of its benefits. The aim of this study is to examine attitudes of pre-service music teachers towards computers and their computer usage capabilities based on their possession of a computer, level and gender. This research was conducted with 80 pre-service music tea- chers. "Computer Usage Skills and Attitude Scale for Computers" which was prepared and checked for consistency and reliability by Yeşilyurt and Gül (2007) was used as the data collection tool. Data was analyzed through t-test, one-way ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis test. Findings of the survey suggest that computer usage skills and attitudes of pre-service music teachers are in a relatively low. Though, there is not a significant cor- relation between variables (gender, level) and the computer usage skills and attitudes of music teachers, there is a statistical and meaningful connection in favor of the students who own computers. As a result of the analysis in terms of pre-service music teachers' computer possession states and their current grades and a statististical difference is seen in total points including all the factors. Music education departments of the students will be in positive attitudes towards computers, programs, curriculum, giving more space, they can interact with computers more environments can be created. In additi- on, in order to allow for the acquisition of computer-related infrastructure, education, computer classes during the first years of the bachelor's degree is recommended to be given due weight.
