Abstract

The article highlights lessons to be learned from Great Britain's diplomacy strategy in the Middle East, which has been accident-prone that ended in a series of official enquiries like the surrender of some 13,000 British and Indian troops in Mesopotamia in 1916. Topics discussed include failures in the expansion of British power in the region including problems it faced with the creation of Iraq, the recovery of British policy during the Second World War and failures in handling intelligence.
