There is a lack of awareness about the risk of acquiring sexually transmitted infections among people aged over 50 years. It should be noted that they remain sexually active and often do not use protection methods. We report the case of an older patient who presented to our clinic for the occurrence of an ulcerative lesion in the genital region. Following investigations the patient was diagnosed with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and syphilis.
