Abstract
- The article focuses on a study based on erm(B)-carrying Campylobacter coli isolate in Europe. Topics discussed include Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli as the principal cause of food borne zoonoses in humans; description of the methylase gene erm(B) in Campylobacter in Europe; and presence of the erm(B) gene associated with an multidrug resistance (MDR) genomic island (MDRGI) that would highlight the potential horizontal transfer of this resistance mechanism.
