Abstract

The article discusses the case of a 54 year old white woman with HIV infection who was treated with Truvada combined with nevirapine. An itchy rash on the neckline, abdomen and limbs appeared after the first dose and symptoms improved with antihistamine treatment. After taking another dose a new rash accompanied by oral and genital ulceration appeared. She was diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson syndrome and was started on alternative treatment with tenofovir, raltegravir and ritonavir/lopinavir.
