Abstract
- The article discusses the results of an observational study aimed at determining how the representation of women among first authors of original research published in high impact general medical journals changed from 1994 to 2014 and whether it differs between journals. A commentary emphasizing the need to prioritize parity of authorship for journals, universities, and funding agencies is also presented.
